Printing from your artwork - Guidelines

How we work with you

Vikki and Steven cutting business cards on the guillotine
We provide a full design and layout service, but we are happy to print your job from your own artwork. Please be aware though that if the files you supply need to be altered by us before printing then we will charge for the layout and artwork necessary in adapting what you supply for our print processes. Below is some guidance on how to prepare your artwork for us.
Whether you supply the artwork or we produce it for you, we will print a proof before printing the job and ask you to check that it is exactly what you want. When you are satisfied that everything is right we will ask you to sign to confirm that you are happy to proceed with printing.
  • Please note that you should check your final proof very carefully. Once you have signed off your proof, we will not be held responsible for any errors spotted after the item has been printed.

Format of artwork supplied to us

We can print from the following digital file formats:
  • Microsoft Office applications, including Publisher and PowerPoint
  • Adobe PDF
  • Photoshop PSD
  • EPS
  • JPEG
  • TIFF
Please note that Microsoft Works file formats are not suitable without conversion, and we will have to charge for converting these documents to a printable format at our current layout rate.
Wherever possible, logos and pictures should be provided in JPEG, TIFF or PSD format, to avoid extra layout charges. Resolution of images should be at least 300 dpi (ppi) at the final printed size.
We would prefer you to send your artwork by email or on disk. We can also read most memory cards and memory sticks. If you don't have access to the relevant equipment or software, we can scan from hard copy (please make sure it is as clean and unmarked as possible).

Colours and fonts

We can provide exact colour matching from Pantone colour charts for those who need it.
If you have used a non-standard font then you will need to include this with your work, preferably as a Truetype font (TTF), - or supply the text as an image.

Printing sizes and colour bleed

Artwork should be laid out as A3. For example, business cards should be laid out 16-up as A3 landscape.
If you want us to print with colour to the edge (full bleed or colour bleed) please allow an extra 2mm of colour all round for trimming.
If artwork has a colour bleed, we will print to a larger paper size, up to a maximum of A3, to allow for trimming. (This may affect the printing charges resulting in a small price increase if this wasn't specified at the quoting stage.)
The maximum image we can print is 291mm x 414mm, ie A3 less 3mm all round. (Therefore we cannot print a colour bleed at A3.)
