Accredited training
An important component of the community-based work experience that is provided by working
alongside people with learning disabilities, is our accredited training programme.
For several years we have worked in partnership with Cambridge Regional College and many of
our printers work extremely hard to achieve certificated modules of the National Skills Profile each year.
Social Training Enterprises Group
Burwell Community Print is a very active member of STEnG, the Social Training Enterprises Group, which is
a Cambridgeshire partnership working with people who are disadvantaged within society, and particularly
within the labour market, because of learning and physical disabilities, sensory impairment or mental
health problems.
Most members of STEnG offer community-based work experience and accredited training that enable each person
to maximise her or his own potential and gain skills needed to take the first steps towards open employment.
Burwell Community Print also works closely with local authorities, community and voluntary sector organisations,
supported employment agencies, day and residential service providers, local businesses and national charities.
Charter for Community Opportunities
In 2004 we signed up to the Charter for Community Opportunities which sets the standards that people with
learning disabilities think the support services and community opportunities should meet. People with
learning disabilities are involved in checking that the support and services they receive meet their standards.
Speaking Up Parliament
Burwell Community Print has an elected member to the Speaking Up Parliament representing people who attend
for work experience and training.
