Mary Hammond

Vice chair

Mary joined as a Trustee in 2010 and has played a key role in the charity's journey through its many developments, challenges, and successes. With personal connections to learning disabilities through family and friends, Burwell Print holds a special place in her heart.

Apart from a brief year spent in Oxford as a child, where her family managed a farm, Mary has lived in Cambridgeshire all her life.

She began her career in banking but later co-founded an advertising, marketing and print-buying agency with her husband. Over time, she honed her expertise in public relations and journalism, eventually working as a consultant for companies in education, publishing, and the third sector.

Though she has called Burwell home since 1999, her work took her across the UK and beyond, leaving little time for community involvement. Now, with reduced hours and the convenience of virtual meetings, thanks to platforms like Zoom and Teams, Mary has more time to dedicate her skills to supporting Burwell Print.

In her free time, Mary enjoys playing chess, photography, gardening, and knitting for the newest, fast-growing members of her family.
